Truth Club is "Not An Exit"
Hailing for Raleigh, North Carolina, Truth Club are prepping for the release of their debut album Not An Exit on May 3rd, and have recently premiered the title track
Back in 2010 I watched a pretty great film called Oil City Confidential. The film, about one of the progenitors of punk, Dr Feelgood, was both a thrilling and enlightening watch. Thrilling because the film was great, enlightening because Dr Feelgood are one of those underrated historical bands that probably don't get enough credit for being part of the proto-punk canon.
Fast forward to 2019 and I've discovered new Tiny Engines signings Truth Club. While they are not proto-punk per say, they share some of the best qualities; frenetic, energized, wiry, and definitely urgent. Hailing for Raleigh, North Carolina, they are prepping for the release of their debut album Not An Exit on May 3rd, and have recently premiered the title track. It's fantastic, and as I mentioned, shares a similar discord to that of Dr Feelgood. And that, I like very much.
But don't just take my word for it, have a listen below. If only indie rock was always this good.
