Did you know that Helen Mirren and Ian McKellan have never starred in a movie together before? It's a strange fact that two such noted names had not, until now, been paired together on the screen. The new movie The Good Liar changes that, with Mirren and McKellan co-starring in this upcoming psychological thriller from New Line Cinema.
Directed by Bill Condon (Gods and Monsters, Dreamgirls), the film tells the story of a conman played by McKellan, who meets Helen Mirren's character online as the two begin to date. As the trailer unfolds, we begin to see that there is more to McKellan's character than he initially leads on. What can we expect? Twists, turns, lies, and deceit- portrayed by two iconic screen names. But we suspect that there is more to this than just a one-sided con.
The official synopsis for the film;
"Career con artist Roy Courtnay can hardly believe his luck when he meets well-to-do widow Betty McLeish online. As Betty opens her home and life to him, Roy is surprised to find himself caring about her, turning what should be a cut-and-dry swindle into the most treacherous tightrope walk of his life."
The Good Liar opens in US cinemas November 15th but won't open in Australia until January 2020.
