The documentary details the wild history of CREEM Magazine, "America's Only Rock 'n' Roll Magazine". CREEM was first published in 1969 and was notorious for its controversial content.
Directed by Scott Crawford (Salad Days: A Decade of Punk in Washington D.C.), the film features interviews with Kirk Hammett, Chad Smith, Alice Cooper, Cameron Crowe, Michael Stipe, Gene Simmons and more. We love CREEM because it was unafraid to print piss-off reviews and because, as the story goes, was the first publication to coin the term "punk rock".
CREEM was also the home to music critic Lester Bangs, who went on the be the publication's editor in 1971.
Boy Howdy! will screen at this year's SXSW Festival March 10, 14 and 15th.
